Internet of Things (IoT) is being touted as the “Next Big Thing” in technology. Well, it turns out, the “Next Big Thing” is actually a little thing. Or, more precisely, a WHOLE LOT of little things (sensors). And they are all being connected to the Internet… an Internet of Things (IoT). And it’s already here.
IoT experts from Centare, Amazon Web Services, Sirius Computer Solutions, Losant, and a special guest technologist from a prestigious, global Milwaukee based company will share insights on successful IoT uses cases, developing IoT solutions, security for IoT environments, and how to identify ways to successfully leverage IoT solutions in your business.

Brian Lewis, Solutions Architect, AWS (Amazon Web Services). Brian started his technology career in 1992 working on Mainframes and Microcomputers for the Phone Company. After MaBell he joined a consulting organization where he architected technical solutions to meet customers’ business needs. One of Brian’s passions is computer security and he holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification among other computer industry certifications (MCSE, CDE, etc.) AWS IoT is one of the world’s leading cloud-based IoT platforms and Brian will discuss how Amazon is rapidly expanding its global capabilities to meet IoT clients’ needs, ranging from wider edge computing to fast scaling to device management. By offering even more of the IoT stack — the various components a company needs to use an IoT solution —Amazon continues to be an excellent IoT partner for many client IoT use cases.
Jill Klein, Global IoT Strategy Leader, Sirius Computer Solutions. Jill’s background includes developing and directing call center operations, IT Service Management, mobile strategies, IoT roadmaps, strategic planning, and field service operations over an IT career of 20 years. In her current role Jill leads Sirius’ world-wide strategy and execution for the Internet of Things. Sirius integrates best in class IoT solutions with their technology partners including AWS and Centare to provide comprehensive solutions and services across Manufacturing, Transportation & Logistics, Insurance, Retail, and Healthcare markets. In her presentation Jill will provide guidance on security requirements for IoT and the keys to identifying successful IoT use cases.
Craig Baldwin, Partnerships Director at Losant. Craig joined Losant in early 2017 as Partnerships Director. His primary function is to grow and serve the Losant partner ecosystem that includes Fortune 500 technology companies and system integrators using Losant’s platform to rapidly develop IoT solutions for their clients. Craig’s presentation will educate WTA’s members on methods and technologies to quickly and securely prototype, test, and build complex connected solutions using open communication standards like REST and MQTT to provide connectivity from one to millions of devices and services. In order to develop disruptive IoT solutions that produce rapid ROI, IoT solutions must include powerful data collection, aggregation, and application enablement in order to help understand, quantify, and visually render vast amounts of sensor, machine, and 3rd party service data and Craig will share his knowledge on ways to accomplish that.
